How to choose engineered wood
Wear layer thickness. The real wood top layer decides how many times the floor can be sanded and refinished over its life. A 2mm to 3mm wear layer suits most homes, 4mm to 6mm allows multiple refinishes for a lifetime floor.
Format. Straight plank suits most rooms, wide planks suit open contemporary spaces, herringbone and chevron suit period and feature rooms.
Finish. Lacquered is lower maintenance and resists marks. Oiled gives a natural matt look and can be spot repaired, but needs occasional re oiling. We can show both in the showroom.
Underfloor heating. Engineered wood is compatible with underfloor heating, unlike most solid wood. Confirm the maximum surface temperature for your chosen product with us.
