To keep your Karndean floor clean and looking its best, here are some of the best practices that we follow:
Sweep or use a vacuum cleaner regularly
Clean karndean floors regularly to remove any loose debris and dirt. Use a soft-bristled broom, soft brush or vacuum with a hard floor setting to avoid scratching the surface.
Rinse your karndean floor
Mix 50 millilitres of Karndean clean solution with approximately 10 litres of water and with a damp mop, rinse the karndean floor thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue from the cleaning product. The mixture may not be very sudsy, but it will still do a great cleaning job
Dry the floor with a soft, clean towel or dust mop to prevent water damage. Avoid using steam cleaners or excessive amounts of water, as these can damage the karndean floor.
We always recommend that you use karndean clean for your routine clean.
How to deal with spillages
Clean up and spills or stains Immediately to prevent them from setting in. Use a damp mop or cloth with karndean clean or a pH-neutral cleaner to wipe up the spill. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the surface of vinyl floors.
How to remove stains
With karndean flooring, we can be thankful that most stains will not be an issue. However if you do have stubborn stains it can be removed by spot cleaning with undiluted Karndean Clean or Karndean Remove using a non-abrasive scouring pad.
For deep cleaning methods, use a specialized Karndean floor cleaning product. These products are designed to clean and protect the karndean floors without damaging it. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for dilution and application.
How to prevent scratches on your flooring
Vinyl flooring, especially karndean flooring are very hardwearing and durable. But pre-cautions and good habits can always be put to use in order to avoid any kinds of scratches.
In entrance areas, place door mats to protect it from grit and moisture, taking care to avoid rubber-backed mats since they can cause discolouration of the floor. Regularly dust mop or soft brush any loose debris around this area in particular.
For enhanced surface treatment use furniture pads or felt pads under heavy furniture to prevent scratching and denting of the flooring. When it comes to moving heavy furniture, please be sure to take good care when lifting and moving during regular cleaning.
What else can you clean karndean with?
Although we highly recommend using karndean products, If you don’t have Karndean cleaning products at hand you can make your own cleaner for your floors by mixing together 1 cup (240 ml) of apple cider vinegar with 3,800 ml of water. Mix them in the bucket you intend to use for mopping.
It is important to note, to please avoid the use of bleach or other household chemicals as they may damage your floor.
